Surveys

Music surveys were a staple of any top 40 radio station in the 1960s and 1970s. The popularity of songs by sales and requests were important factors in programming as well as station promotion. Many listeners were collectors of station surveys. In fact, music surveys from the "Hit/Personality" era of top 40 radio are collectibles today and sometimes sell for significant amounts of money.

Collection of music surveys has become quite a business in the U. S. Just check on any search engine aunder "music surveys" and see the results you retrieve. Music surveys had many names like WISM Music Guide, 95/YFE's Top 30 Plus 5, the Double-K's Top 40, and Rockin' Radio CIL-FM's Top 40 Hits.
